After the Holocaust, how can you trust any human being?

The Germans had no particular predilection for genocide significantly greater than the rest of Europe's desire to kill undesirables. If the Germans could do it, anyone is vulnerable. The Germans are not special. What is it that keeps the rest of us from systematically murdering our political opponents? How can you justify trusting anyone?
